Let us turn our faces toward the sun, like the little spaceprobe named Stardust who just terminated yesterday. They gave it orders to spend its fuel, to burn itself out in a 2.3 minute fin du temps. To blaze. And it obeyed, one wants to say dutifully.
Now that it’s spent, the connection to earth lost, the little probe no longer controls the direction of its antennae. Its solar collectors will no longer be turned toward the sun. Soon it will shut down forever. Or so they say.
Anxious for tales of the rose demanding its due, of pirates beating their chests with righteous indignation, we occasionally remember when we were all still living heroes and angels, the authors to our part in the play.
